ACNE Store LA

ACNE Store LA

ACNE Studios

ACNE Studios‘ sleek new Downtown LA Flagship Headquarters has taken residence in the spectacular art deco Eastern Columbia Building.

Swedish design house ACNE opened their flagship store in Downtown LA this past December to much fanfare. ACNE‘s choice of locating their newest addition inside the historic Art Deco Eastern Columbia Building, originally raised some eyebrows. The neighborhood was on the rise, but not quite the thriving shopping district that dominates LA’s chic West Side. In an interview with Trendland ACNE‘s Creative Director Jonny Johansson said, “We could have opened on Melrose. But for us, we had to start something new. This area is more our style. It’s very eclectic and has the most beautiful buildings in the world.”

Like a futuristic locker room the 5,000 sq ft space makes smart use of materials not normally seen in retail spaces.

ACNE designers also created all the furniture for the space.

ACNE‘s team of designers also created all the furniture for the space.

Clad in perforated steel and pink terrazo flooring, ACNE has kept the look raw. All furniture within the store is also ACNE designed, keeping the space cohesive and uncluttered, allowing the inventory to really shine.

Any original concerns were quickly swept aside with the opening of the ACE Hotel across the street. Now the new kids on the block compliment each other quite nicely. ACNE has found a hip new neighbor with an equally hip new clientele eager to peruse their avant-garde new space.

Chroma Team Tintype Photoshoot

Greetings everyone! We are excited to unveil the new and improved Chroma Design Blog. Below you can check out the video of the Chroma Team getting their portraits taken using a method of photography known as “tintype”.

Made popular for its quick emulsion and inexpensive materials, tintype photography flourished on boardwalks and carnivals around the country as far back as the 1860’s. In recent years, tintype photography has seen a resurgence in popularity. When it came time to choose how to best represent the Chroma team, tintype’s dramatic effect proved to be the perfect fit.

Check out the following video which documents the process:
